Metal Clay Bead Smorgasbord Provides Food for Creativity!

Barbara Simon's "Smorgasbord of Metal Clay Beads" this past weekend was a huge hit! For several students, this was their first visit to our new DeLand studio--and they loved its "great vibe." As Copprclay "pioneers" they learned first hand of its joys and idiosyncrasies--and of the fantastic range of colors that can be obtained by various patinas. And who wouldn't love a silver donut--I got to see a few of the stunning pieces from class up close as they came out of the kiln--you cannot beat the sensuous textural quality of these metal clays.

This was one devoted bunch of students--they wouldn't even leave to have lunch--just work, work, work! (so we brought a real food "smorgasbord" to them) Thanks so much to Kit, Starr, Jean, Nancy, Helen & Wendy for coming out to make this class a success. Ladies--your Bronzclay lemon wedges, fresh from their nine hour firing, are in the mail--and their colors are fantastic! Jennifer--we wish you had been there, but we'll be sure to do it another time.

Barbara--thanks! You wrote the book on metal clay beads--and we thank you!

Summer Open House

What a great turnout we had for our Summer Open House last Saturday! Over 30 people came to tour the studio--some joined FSG on the spot. We are working on our Fall class schedule now--we'll have beginning PMC, beginning metal "project" classes--like making cool earrings, hydraulic press review--just to name a few. Let us know what you'd like to learn!

We still have a few spaces left in our Barbara Simon metal clay bead class--you know Barbara literally wrote the book on metal clay beads! Check the website for details
